Recipe: Fruit Leather

This was created due to my desperation to use up the extra apples I had that were on the verge of going bad. There's no extra sugar (unless you feel like using some brown sugar for extra apple pie flavor), it's pretty easy to make, stores well & is hubby approved. Enjoy!

Fruit Leather

Ingredients
4 red delicious apples, peeled & cored (I'm sure another apple would work fine, these are just what I had on hand)
1/2 cup of water
1 Tbsp pure honey
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
Lemon juice
Optional: 1 tsp brown sugar

> Preheat oven to 175°F
> Dice apples into 1/2 cm pieces
> Put apes and water into a saucepan. Cover and simmer for 5-10 minutes our until apples bits are soft
> Puree until smooth - no chunks should remain. Add spices and lemon juice to taste
> Simmer for another 5-10 minutes until the mix can be parted with a soon and each side stays separated
> Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, making sure to leave some overhang on each side
> Poor fruit mix onto paper and spread evenly to about 1/4" thick
> Bake until leather is no longer sticky and indentations are not left when touched - this took me about 5.5 hours, it all depends on how thick the fruit is spread
